Brunei Darussalam on Monday recorded 22 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 15,058. Two new clusters (private accommodation-based) were also detected, involving eight cases, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar announced at the daily press conference on Monday.
Six cases have been added to the existing clusters, who were previously close contacts with positive cases.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the sources of infection of eight new cases.
Cluster 12836, Cluster 12893, Megalift Sdn Bhd Cluster, Kilanas Staff House Cluster and WYWY Lambak Staff House Cluster have been closed, bringing the number of active clusters to 132.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “Thirty-nine cases recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Sultanate to 14,451. Meanwhile, 508 active cases remain.”
Four Category 5 patients in the intensive care unit are receiving artificial ventilation assistance, with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO).
Over the past 24 hours, 1,842 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 614,805.
