The replacement of carers for patients at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital are allowed provided that they follow the safety measures including taking a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab test beforehand.
This was stated by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during the daily press conference on Thursday.
Following the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate, RIPAS Hospital has tightened its measures to prevent becoming a cluster.
On whether a carer can be replaced after a long stay at the hospital, the minister said, “The exchange of caretakers is allowed after taking the necessary tests.
“However, exchanges cannot be done daily as it is still advisable that carers stay at the hospital for a longer duration. We don’t want people coming in and out and staying for only one to three days,” he added.
The minister stated that carers must inform medical staff and provide details such as the date of the intended exchange and swab test results to ensure the safety of the patients, carers and those in the hospital.
