Patients in isolation centres are liable under the Infectious Diseases Act if they break protocols or instructions, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during yesterday’s press conference on the COVID-19 outbreak.
“For patients under the care of the government at isolation centres, they are being admitted under the Infectious Diseases Act,” said the minister, adding that action will be taken against those disobeying instructions.
“The Infectious Diseases Act can be used against them and if they cause any nuisance they will be punished through our justice system.”
The minister added that if there was any misconduct towards workers at the isolation centres, the ministry will also “not hesitate to bring them to the court of law”.
